An explosive-proof limo probably isn’t high on your new car wish list. But for some – think royals, heads of state and politically-motivated personalities – it’s a very real threat, so we assume these are the people Mercedes-Benz has in mind for its Maybach S600 Pullman Guard.
While we don’t know much about this armoured limousine, we do know that it has been created with occupant protection at the forefront of its design. It’s said to include pieces of bullet-proof steel between panels of the car, thicker windows with a special coating; the Maybach S600 Guard claims to be the safest vehicle outside of military forces.
While a bullet and explosive proof car sounds appealing to the ultra-safety conscious, with very little information on the actual testing criteria, we wonder how protective these cars would be in the case of an explosion.
We want to know what you think – would you trust an armoured car?
