WE HAVE long dreamed of taking the Street Machine Drag Challenge concept to Queensland.
There is no doubt that there are more than enough tough street cars to support the event, but one of our concerns was the lack of tracks within a reasonable distance from each other. The Sunshine State has plenty of drag strips, but they are mostly spread out right across the joint.
The solution was to start with a three-day Drag Challenge Weekend, racing at Willowbank Raceway and Warwick Dragway. If the event is a success, we'll look at ways to bring the five-day Drag Challenge proper up north.
And so far, it looks like the racers, tracks and crowds are getting right behind the concept. We hope you enjoy our video wrap up of the first day's action and give a big shout-out to our sponsors; Tuff Mounts, Turbosmart, Boostane Australia and Pacemaker.
