SARAH Heaney waved the Barra flag for her first Street Machine Drag Challenge with a nitrous-assisted EB Falcon in the Haltech Radial Blown class, co-driving with partner Brett Ewings. Their campaign wasn’t without incident, though: “The radiator failed on Day One, and then we chased a tune issue for three days before finally sorting it out on Thursday night.”

Ford EB Falcon engine bayThe nitrous Barra is backed by a BTR fourspeed trans and TCE 3000rpm stall, all built by Preston Automatics, while at the back a BorgWarner diff runs 3.45s and 31-spline Mark Williams axles. The whole shooting match is good for a whopping 555 neddies at the rear. With no chance to run times before DC, Sarah used the five days as an opportunity for testing, sorting out the bugs to finally lay down an impressive 1000ft pass of [email protected] – 11.22sec on the quarter – on Day Five at Calder.

Sarah Heaney“My plan going into Drag Challenge was to drive the EB home again on Friday night,” Sarah said. “I’m happy that by Thursday the car had finally made a full pass for the first time! This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see how we can improve.” There’s clearly unfinished business for Sarah, so there’s no doubt she’ll be back at Drag Challenge 2019 to try and run decent numbers over all five days.
