Hot on his heels is Adam Rogash in the NOSHOW VT Clubsport with a best of 8.3, followed by Chris Veleski's 2JZ-powered Toyota Lexcen with an 8.42 and Mark Drew in the Crusty Torana with an 8.44. All of those guys are running in Haltech Radial Blown.
Day one also saw its fair share of carnage on the track. Max and Jake Edwards blew the rods out of the LS motor in Max's Corona wagon. While Drag Challenge rules state that you must start and finish the event with the same engine, the guys pulled the engine out in the pits (using a tree branch and a winch) and have a wrecker motor in the car already so they can tag along and finish off the event.
Also is Paul Hamilton in the 600ci XA Falcon, who has done a lifter and has called it a day. We've also heard that Chris Veleski is out in his ballistic Toyota Lexcen with a dud bearing and Damien Reeves is out in his stunning, supercharged XT Falcon.
The worst news is that Justin and Joshua Eade are out, after their XY was hit on the side of the road on the way to Heathcote. The guys are ok, but their beloved Falcon is out and they are understandably devastated.
Ryan Ford blew the first gear in his Muncie-equipped, Procharged big block Camaro, but headed straight back home to fit another, so hopefully he'll make it to Heathcote in time to run a number.
After today's racing at Heathcote Park, we head to Mildura on Wednesday, Swan Hill on Thursday and back to Calder Park Friday night. A big shout out to the track staff, volunteers and our sponsors; Earl's Performance Products, Mothers, Turbosmart, Haltech and Tuff Mounts.
