BURNOUTS came to town last weekend with the Melbourne Showgrounds hosting the very first running of the Melbourne Autofest.

As the inaugural event, the numbers were down on some of the longer running shows on the Autofest calendar, but hundreds of cars and thousands of spectators descended on the showground to check out the toughest cars in the land as they pumped out huge plumes of smoke.

With scorching 42-degree temps the action was hot both on and off the track, with Mark Gillett taking out the win in his PRO71 HG Holden.
