STREET MACHINE Summernats 28 kicked off in style yesterday.

There was a steady flow of entrants going through scrutineering and getting settled in, with some opting to go through show judging, while others were content to do hot laps around Exhibition Park. The highlight of the day was the new world burnout attempt, with 103 cars quickly smoking out the sky. The day closed with a live performance from 80s Oz rock legends The Radiators. Outside the event, we held our annual Valvoline Street Machine of the Year VIP party, where winner Henry Parry was officially awarded his $20,000 cheque. The Starling family also honoured the winner of the inaugural Laurie Starling Memorial Scholarship, which was won by Tom Saunders from Tasmania. Check back tomorrow for the next day’s action!
