Thashernats 2019 results - burnouts return to Wagga Waga

THE NSW town of Wagga Wagga is one of the true heartlands of Aussie street machining. Besides producing many top-notch streeters over the years, Wagga was the site of the Street Machine Nationals after the move from Canberra in 1988 and also home to the Riverina Rev Fest.The Rev Fest event fired its last shot in 2012 and since then, Wagga has been deprived of burnout events – until local club the Riverina Thrashers put their heads together and organised a brand new pad to be built at Wagga Wagga International Speedway.

The Thrashers christened the new pad back in May with a burnout party and held their first serious event yesterday, dubbed Thrashernats.

The event pulled big names from far and wide and the pad ran hot from 11am to 8pm, with only a couple of quick breaks for lunch and dinner.Two preliminary rounds of burnouts producing plenty of carnage, thinning out the field of competitors for the Top 25 night time finals.

Before the finals, a minutes silence was observed for the late Nikolas Rigby, followed by tribute skids by Matthew Allen and Jake Myers.

Rick Fuller in FULL ON took out first overall and first in the Pro Blown class. Bar having to stop momentarily to have a small tyre fire extinguished in the first round, Rick handed out three lessons in driver control throughout the day, using every inch of the pad to take out a deserved win and taking home the $5,000 first place prize money.
