THE weekend has already started for some of us, and boy it is going to be a cracker! First cab off the rank is the mighty Ballarat Swap Meet. It is one of the biggest in the country and there are plenty of goodies to be had. SM’s Chris Thorogood was out there bright and early today and liked the look of this VH Vacationer for $2200.

HSV Clubsport MIS5LPowercruise 66 is already up and running at Sydney Motorsport Park and the place is packed. There are heaps of crackers out to play, including 2016 Drag Challenge champ Bubba Medlyn, Dustin Goldsmith’s 14LOZ VE ute and Darrin Stokes’s blown Hemi-powered Barracuda. Cruising, powerskids, off-street drags and burnouts galore are all on the menu.

Holden Torana LC763Tonight, attention will turn to Sydney Dragway, where the Powercruise guys are running a Lights Out night. With a minimum ET of 7.99sec needed for entry, there is a stellar field of cars entered, including Mark Hayes’s LC763, Jeremy Martin’s crazy VH Commodore, Simon Kryger’s Torana and many more. The racing will be grudge-style over the eighth-mile.

Holden Statesman Blown Burnout MUTINYThen tomorrow, after another tyre-killing day at Sydney Motorsport Park, everyone will head back to Sydney Dragway at 6pm for a massive burnout comp. Two teams of 20 killer cars will go head-to-head, including Mark Schawrz in HANFUL, Craig Whiddett in MUTINY, Rick Fuller in LSONE and Lynchy in his Corolla. Entry is free with your Powercruise 66 pass or $25 on the gate.

HSV Clubsport NOSHOW DynoBack in Victoria, there is going to be a big street meet at Calder Park tonight, followed by the Australian Pro Street Association Shootout on Saturday. Dynos have been running hot all weekend in preparation. Adam Rogash’s NOSHOW made considerable horsepower yesterday, and if he can keep the front wheels of the ClubSport on the ground, it should be something to see.

Holden Torana Wheel Stand Mark Drew 1There is also a drag meeting on Sunday at Wilby Park and there will be some real toughies out to play, including Mark Drew’s Crusty Torana.

Other shows this weekend include the most excellent Capital Jam in Canberra tomorrow, Covered In Chrome up in Airlie Beach in Queensland, and the always-awesome Showcars Melbourne at Moonee Valley Racing Club on Sunday. And lastly, the Horsepower Spectacular is on in Hobart, starring XBOSS!
