Street Machine’s guide to the best car events happening around the country this weekend

GAZZANATS is on this Saturday and Sunday at Sunset Strip near Mildura. The event put on by Gary Myers is sure to be a cracker with some seriously tough burnout cars ready to smoke it up, plus Street Outlaw drags, track cruising, super skids and a show n shine. It’ll cost adults $30 to spectate and kids over seven-years-old $10. Going on Saturday give you the best bang for your buck with gates open 9am until 10pm, on Sunday it’s all over at 4pm.

HQ One Tonner BurnoutASPHALT Demons are holding their fifth invitational event on Saturday at the Archer Falls Airfield, Mt Archer, Queensland. Don’t be put off by the name – this is a public event open to everyone. All pre-1965 cars that attend will be invited to be on display, while cars outside this bracket that are show-worthy can display in a separate area. A select group of pre-’65 cars will also be allowed to race on-track in the dirt drags. Click through the gallery to see some pics from when we went in 2012.

Harrigan’s Rod & Custom Show is also on in Queensland this Sunday at Calypso Bay. This should be an awesome event, with some very serious cars on show, including Rides By Kam’s latest creation – a completely mental blown ’68 Camaro. There’s also hefty wad of cash up for grabs with a total of $9000 in the prize purse.

Buick Custom LowriderStill in Queensland, Car Mad Community is hosting a mega meet in Southport on Saturday. The event is open to all makes and models of cars, bikes and trucks and includes a show ’n’ shine and dyno display. It’s free for the public to come along, $10 to enter the show ’n’ shine and $60 for a go on the dyno.

57 Chev CustomThe Idlewild Hot Rod & Custom Car Show is on in Blacktown, NSW this Saturday. The show is open to all rods, customs, street machines, lowriders, classics, muscle cars and exotics, and heaps of family entertainment is promised.

In Melbourne, Saturday Night Live is hosting its weekly car meet at BP Eastlink Outbound. There’s always heaps of cool old-school muscle at these events – just look at their Facebook page! The action kicks off at around 5pm.

Holden ToranasThe Ballarat Annual All GM Day is on this Sunday in country Victoria. The event is open to all General Motors cars, with multiple trophies on offer for those that have pre-entered their cars for judging. The event costs $5 for spectators and also includes trade stalls and free kids activities, with all proceeds donated to Ballarat Hospital’s Children’s Ward.

FX Holden NwIn Warragul, Victoria, the Classic Chrome Bumper Show ’n’ Shine is on Sunday and it’s being held in conjunction with the 38th FX & FJ Holden State Titles. Get down to the Logan Park Showgrounds from 8am to see some of the best chrome-bumper classics in Victoria!

World Time Attack EVO GTRSydney Motorsport Park will host the World Time Attack Challenge this Friday and Saturday, where some of the fastest cars in the world and their drivers will attempt to set the perfect lap. Most of the teams are racing in outrageously modified JDM cars, but there is one team piloting a C5 Corvette and another racing a Holden Monaro!

Ford Cortina DragAs usual there are a couple of test-and-tune drag racing events happening around the traps this weekend. Willowbank Raceway’s event is on Saturday, while Heathcote will be open on Sunday for off-street drags.
