“I BOUGHT my VY II SS wagon nine years ago completely standard; in its previous life it had been a family car in South Australia. After about three months I had the boys at Street Torque do a few bits and pieces such as the big camshaft, OTR intake, heavy-duty clutch, 3.9:1 diff ratio, full exhaust system and more.

Holden Commodore VY SS wagon rearI then stripped the car and had the panel and paint done, and installed Pedders XP coil-overs. After doing Motorvation and a few car shows, I thought it was time for a change, so I did a bit of work under the bonnet just to tidy it up.

Holden VY SS Commodore engine bayI then had Josh at LSX Powertrain fit the Harrop 2300 blower and intercooler to the stock 5.7L LS, along with an NCP twin-plate clutch and new driveshafts, and it’s now making 540rwhp on only 8psi of boost.

Holden VY SS Wagon interiorAfter the blower was installed I had a seven-inch reverse-cowl fitted to move the heat from under the bonnet, and while I was at it I also added a stainless twin three-inch exhaust system for that crisp sound.

Now that I had that in-your-face look thanks to the reverse-cowl, I decided to buy a set of 20-inch white HDT Aeros, which makes the car really different-looking – you either like it or hate it, but I love it!
