This is the fourth Tucker 48 built by Rob Ida. This one is powered by a Cadillac Northstar V8 mounted amidships, with twin turbos for good measure

ROB Ida builds insane rods, customs and concept cars from his Rob Ida Concepts shop in New Jersey. His dad Bob is a killer machinist which no doubt comes in handy. The kicker here is that Bob’s dad Joe was Tucker dealer back in the day. That didn’t last long, but the love of Preston Tucker’s dream has stuck through the generations in the Ida family.

So much so that Rob has now made four Tucker 48 replicas, the latest of which he talks about in this video. He is also working on a Tucker Torpedo – a concept car that was never built that features an aluminum body, centre driving position and much more. More on that one soon!
