New 4x4 batteries and charging equipment feature

Maintain an electrical pulse at the campsite this holiday season, with this selection of new gear.

KEEP your electrical equipment purring this festive season, with this selection of new battery and charging gear.

Invicta Lithium battery range

The Invicta Lithium battery range from Sealed Performance Batteries comes with all the benefits of LiFePO₄ (lithium iron phosphate) technology packaged into standard 12V Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) case sizes for easy replacement. In addition, the range includes slimline models that are designed to fit into confined spaces.

Invicta Lithium batteries are more than 50 per cent lighter than equivalent SLA batteries and are claimed to provide up to eight times the cycle life, lowering overall cost of ownership. They also provide greater capacity utilisation, which allows for a reduction in system size or a greater runtime.

The innovative Invicta Lithium Bluetooth models allow users to easily monitor the battery’s health and state of charge on a smartphone, using a free app that communicates with an integrated Battery Management System (BMS). There are a number batteries in the Invicta Lithium range, with 12V models ranging from 50Ah to 300Ah and 24V models from 50Ah to 150Ah.

RRP: From $799-$4299

Optima RedTop and YellowTop batteries

The Optima RedTop is designed for any starting application where the discharge cycle is “shallow”. This is typical of normal engine starting where an alternator immediately monitors the state of charge and provides energy to the battery whenever it is needed.

The Optima YellowTop battery is designed for starting and for supporting electronic accessory demands. If you are using battery energy for more than just starting the engine, a YellowTop Optima is the right choice.

All Optima batteries feature the brand’s Spiracell Technology and Pureflow Technology, which are claimed to give the more than 15 times the vibration resistance and increased cycle life compared to traditional batteries. They are also non-spillable and maintenance-free.

RRP: From $311 (RdsTop); from $342.20 (YellowTop)

Projecta ‘Intelli-Start’ Lithium Emergency Jumpstarters

Projecta has developed two new second-generation 12V ‘Intelli-Start’ Lithium Emergency Jumpstarters – the IS910E and IS1210E, which replace the earlier IS900 and IS1200 models that failed to meet Projecta’s stringent safety performance standards.

According to Projecta, the new jump-starters introduce a host of improvements, including a further two-stage safety protection system that checks the health of both the Mosfet transistor switch and the unit’s Smart Module (protecting against overcharge and voltage surges). If either fails, the jump-starter will cut out, eliminating safety risks

. The IS910E boasts 900A peak amps and 240A clamp power (enough to start petrol engines up to 6L in capacity); the IS1210E has 1200A peak amps and 330A clamp power (for starting petrol-powered vehicles up to 7.0L and diesel engines up to 3.2L).

The compact and lightweight jump-starters have Lithium Cobalt (LiCo) batteries with capacities of 6600mAh and 13,500mAh respectively, providing maximum power and efficiency, and they can also be used as power banks via a 2.1A USB port. Both models also have an inbuilt LED floodlight, and they’re supplied with a charging plug adaptor, battery clamps and carry case.

Redarc BCDC mounting bracket kits

Redarc has developed a range of vehicle-specific mounting kits for BCDC DC-DC chargers to suit popular 4x4s including Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series and 70 Series, Prado 150, Hilux, Holden Colorado and Isuzu D-Max.

Manufactured from 304 stainless-steel, the brackets allow installation of the range of Redarc BCDC DC-DC chargers into the engine bays of the listed vehicles, providing optimum airflow for cool charger operation, in turn ensuring optimal performance.

All of the mounting kits have been designed to fit existing mounting points in the respective vehicles, and are supplied with everything you need to install the BCDC charger in your vehicle, including a comprehensive installation template, fasteners and bracket.

The range of Redarc in-vehicle dual-battery chargers have been designed to ensure optimum performance of electrical equipment, and they employ a unique, multi-stage charging algorithm to charge any commonly used automotive auxiliary battery to 100 per cent while you’re on the move.
