There’s no shortage of cool engines in Ford’s United States parts catalogue – from DOHC Coyotes to Godzilla pushrods, the Blue Oval offers power solutions for nearly everything.

However, what if you’re an environmentally conscious enthusiast? All these V8s aren’t exactly eco-friendly by turning fossil fuels into unadulterated power.

Never fear, the Eluminator is here. Set to debut at this year’s SEMA show, Ford has teased CAD drawings of its new electric motor which will be available through Ford Performance from autumn in the US.

Measuring up at 570mm from front to back, the Eluminator is being touted as an off-the-shelf solution for restomods and project vehicles – able to be dropped into almost anything from a classic Mustang to off-roading Bronco or even an F-150.

The introduction of the Eluminator is in response to General Motors revealing the “electric Connect & Cruise concept crate propulsion package” at SEMA in 2019 – a combination of two eCrate motors dropped into a Chevrolet C10 pick-up to produce 335kW.

Ford hasn’t yet provided details regarding weight, power and transmission compatibility but it’s expected to reveal more at SEMA, hopefully with the news of the Emulator becoming available Down Under.
