IT’S new mag day! Our May 2019 issue of Street Machine is out now, and it’s packed with heaps of goodies to keep you occupied over the Easter break.

1957 ChevTopping the bill this month is Joe Panzarino’s ’57 Chev. This drop-dead gorgeous coupe is packing a 377ci Dart Chevy, topped off with a mean blower and some meaty rear rubber.

Holden LX ToranaDom D’Agostino’s LX Torana hatch leads the charge for the Holden faithful, with nearly 700hp of all-motor Holden V8 under the bonnet. Having recently taken out the Aspirated Holden class at the Holden Nationals 2019, this thing is certainly a performer both on and off track.

Ford xe falconBoxy Falcons are creeping up the classic car ranks in recent times, and Zoran Krstevski’s XE is certainly a fine example of the breed. It’s a car that has been 12 years in the making for Zoran, and I think we can all agree it was certainly worth the wait.

Holden VL TurboSpeaking of up-and-coming classics, Blake Evans’s VL Turbo once again shows why the 80s were oh-so-good. In the engine bay is neither an RB30 nor an asthmatic 5.0-litre Holden; instead there’s a GM 325ci LM7 force-fed by a BorgWarner S400SX-3 turbo. With over 600hp at the rears, there’s no doubt this Berlina will get you to and from the kebab shop in record time.

TassienatsWe recently headed down south to see why a little event called Tassie Nats has exploded in popularity in recent years, and we weren’t disappointed. Burnouts, drag racing, powerskids, beer and good vibes – this event had it all.

Ford XP FalconAdam Cecil’s XP Falcon is a true show-stopper, proving its worth in the Meguiar’s Top 60 at Summernats earlier this year. With a 600hp Dart Windsor under the bonnet and lickable Mica Red paint, this is one tasty Falcon.

speedweekWe took a trip to the salt for Speed Week 2019 at Lake Gairdner, where Scotty got the frightening task of piloting a 572ci, 700+hp ’34 Ford coupe for a new episode of Carnage. Needless to say, he got a bit excited about the whole idea.

Dodge ChallengerThis issue we also check out a truly epic Dodge Challenger from over the ditch in New Zealand, built by the Mitchell Race Xtreme team. With its unique presence and sound on the road, this Challenger is the perfect blend of NASCAR, Trans Am racer and high-end show car.

metal shapingChad Atkinson takes us through the process of how to use an English wheel for those old-school metal-shaping needs, while our resident brainiac Dr Tim takes us back to a simpler time of car culture in the 1960s.

Holden HJWe’ve got all that, plus the full story on the Bolwell Nagari, Nelson Granger’s 580ci HJ Kingswood, a rotary-powered KE20 Corolla sleeper, a Dodge truck Drag Challenge weapon, and loads more in the May Street Machine – so go and grab a copy now!
