LARDNER PARK MOTORFEST 2017 HIGHLIGHTS – VIDEO

It was a case of ‘smoke ’em if you got ’em’ at Lardner Park Motorfest on the weekend

CRANK up the volume on this video as some of the best burnout pilots in the land get their smoke on at Lardner Park Motorfest – the biggest ‘little’ burnout show in Victoria.

Now in its eighth year, Lardner Park Motorfest sees the perfect melding of two groups to put on a great show to raise money for charity. On one side you’ve got the guys and girls from Gippsland Tough Streeters, while on the other there’s the local Drouin Rotary group; together they put on a top show that has raised some serious dollars while giving local petrolheads somewhere to hang out and have a great time.

Burnouts are undoubtedly the major feature of Motorfest, but there’s also a show ’n’ shine and other driving events including the Go-to-whoa and Stampede.

There’s some decent prize money too; first place in the burnouts gets $6000, with another $4000 going to second place and $2000 to third. In fact they pay prize money all the way down to 10th place, and there is another $2000 on offer for Saturday’s Top 10 Shootout. Basically they take the 10 best qualifiers and give them a shot at winning $2000 in a winner-takes-all smokefest. This year Rick Fuller with LSONE took home the two grand on Saturday night.

Sunday’s finals saw the 50 best cars from qualifying going for the big money, and when the smoke had cleared Peter Grmusa and his 702ci FDIS F100 pick-up took home first prize. Rick Fuller came second, taking his total winnings to $6000 for the weekend, and Justine Mott (GEMSKID) and Fred Watson (FEAR) came third and fourth respectively.

Now here’s where things get interesting. Both Peter Grmusa and Rick Fuller had already qualified for the Summernats 31 Burnout Masters, so with two Masters tickets on offer at Motorfest, it seems those passes now go to Justine and Fred. Neither made any secret about chasing the Masters tickets and it seems their hopes have been realised. Can either of them take it all the way to the finals at Summernats 31? We still have to wait nine months to find out.
