Project car update and our new tow rig – Carnage Plus Episode 13

We've got a new car to tow around all of our Carnage project cars!

HERE at Street Machine we have seven Carnage project cars on the go – some of which you all know about, and others you’ll find out about in the future. But only one of them is really driveable on the street – the Turbo Taxi, and for that reason we love it. If you’ve seen all the videos, you’ll know we’ve driven it from Melbourne to Queensland and back for Drag Challenge Weekend, plus numerous trips to and from Sydney, Summernats, Drag Challenge and general day-to-day stuff.

But the thing is, the remaining six cars either don’t move under their own steam yet or can’t legally be driven on the road. So we need to tow them around constantly, and for that we’ve been borrowing cars from Ford Australia for almost a year now – or handing fat wads of $50 notes to tow truck drivers.

Thankfully we don’t have to worry about that anymore, because Ford Australia has said: “Instead of borrowing our Rangers and Everest four-wheel drives all the time, why don’t you just keep one?” So we have.

Yesterday Scotty picked up a top-of-the-line Ranger FX4 4×4 with a 3.2-litre turbo-diesel five-cylinder and six-speed auto. It can haul up to 3.5 tonnes, plus carry all of our gear in the tray. It’s perfect for our needs, and it’s ours for the foreseeable future.

Trainspotters might be aware that there is a new Ford Ranger being released in the next few months, so when that one comes out we might even get to trade this one for the newer version. For now we’re pretty stoked with what we have – thanks Ford!
