ORIGINALLY from Florida, expat American Ray Baney now resides in Alice Springs. He used to run this ’65 Mustang as a full drag car years ago, but he has recently restored it to more of a street spec.

The theme of the build was 60s street racer, and the car is how you’d imagine a ’65 Mustang would have looked if it was driven straight from the showroom to the speed shop and given a tickle. Ray calls it a ‘Day Two’ car.

With a 331ci stroker, four-speed manual with a Hurst shifter and trio of Holley carbs, and reproduction 60s-style wheels, it fits the bill perfectly. We caught up with Ray at Red CentreNATS earlier this month where he was racing the car in with its new setup for the first time.
