Monster small-block powered Pro-Street Nissan Bluebird sinks into the six-second zone

MATT McCarthy made the trek to Grudge Kings Sydney from Brisbane, where he piloted his Nissan Bluebird rocketship into the six-second zone with a 6.96@206mph. The pass was a massive PB, improving enormously over his previous best of 7.33@199mph. The Bluebird runs a 400ci small-block Chev with 13-degree alloy heads with a pair of 70mm Garrett turbos pumping 37lb of boost. The 3080lb beast is showing around 2100hp at the moment and the ECU of choice is a Vipec and jointly tuned by Matt, with input from Mark Jacobsen from Godzilla Motorsport. It is a bit of handful to get down the track, but Matt is keen to go even faster.

“I’m aiming for 6.70’s in the Outlaw Radial class and I think it will do it” Matt may have been able to better that 6.96 if the front wasn’t pointing in the air resulting in a momentary stop and start run. Matt is a real hands-on type of guy and has built and takes care of the mechanicals himself. Way to go Matt!
