THE Grudge Kings concept came of age yesterday at Sydney Dragway, with Jeremy ‘Jet’ Martin nailing the winner-takes-all $50,000 shootout in his 4000hp, Proline 481X-powered VB Commodore.

The $50K deal started with a 32-car field, with racers buying in for a $1000 apiece. Breakages in testing narrowed the field down to 25, but it was a high quality field, including Perry Bullivant, Mark Hayes, Steve Bezzina, Jeremy Callaghan, Danny Busbridge, Dale Heiler, Craig Gerdes, Dom Luppino, Kit Hunter, Andy Micallef and more.  Racing was elimination-style over the eighth-mile, with one green light and no ambers. There was a seven-second time out rule, meaning once one racer had fully-staged, the other had seven seconds to follow suit or be disqualified. Specs-wise, you just needed car with a factory steel roof and rear quarters. Otherwise, it was run what you brung!

Jet met Bruno Matijasevic and his Supercharged Outlaws HG sedan in the final, but Bruno fell foul of the seven-second rule and was disqualified. Jet were stoked and as you’ll see in the video, the VB is about to be shipped to the States to run at the infamous No Mercy event. Go Aussies!
