POR440 VALIANT BUILD: SETTING UP THE HALTECH ECU

The ECU gets sorted for Arby’s new Valiant build

MARK Arblaster’s POR440 Valiant is getting closer to being a finished car and running some serious times down the quarter-mile. In case you haven’t been keeping up, Mark got this old girl off Gumtree with the intention of putting a 5.3-litre iron-block LS truck motor in it with a turbo. These things are tough as nails, and renowned for making big horsepower on a stock bottom end. Mark will be bringing the Valiant to Street Machine Drag Challenge in October, and we can’t wait to see what it can do.

To get it all running right, Mark will be using a Haltech Elite 2500 T ECU, a yet-to-be–publicly-released engine management system that incorporates torque management with a sensor that measures tailshaft rpm.

Check out this cool video the guys from Haltech made with Mark and his Valiant, installing the Haltech computer and starting the engine for the first time.
