Taking a tour around Tuff Mounts and Muscle Garage in Adelaide with Jason Waye

TUFF Mounts and Muscle Garage are known for their off the shelf engine conversion kits, engine mounts and accessories which are all made in South Australia, but they also have a workshop that churns out some really cool builds. Last year we followed the build of owner Jason Waye’s own Barra-swapped VS Holden ute which was all done in-house and raced at Street Machine Drag Challenge last year.

Jason and new owner Craig Tropeano have made a few improvements to the Barrawhore this year, hoping to go even quicker than their 10.50 PB last year. Jason has also just recently picked up a Fox-body Mustang which he plans to drop a Barra into for Drag Challenge 2019.

While Jason dabbles in a bit of drag racing, he’s big into 1980s Aussie Sports Sedans, which are a custom chassis, mid-engine, circuit racing car similar to something you’d see at World Time Attack with crazy aero and big flares. Jason already has a mint Torana and a Falcon which is a bit rougher, and now he has added a Commodore to the fleet!

Telfo caught up with Jason at his workshop in Adelaide on the way back from Red CentreNATS last month to check out the new Commodore Sports Sedan and a couple of cool customer projects that the Muscle Garage guys have been working on.
