BACK at the beginning of the month Arby gave us a bit of a preview of his POR440 Valiant, which is getting built for Drag Challenge 2016. Now he gives us a bit more of an in-depth view of the engine, fuel system and rear end.

Most of the hard work and heavy duty stuff has been done. The 5.3-litre LS engine has been mounted, the Borg Warner turbo installed and the Powerglide and sheet-metal nine-inch fitted, but now it’s time for all the fiddly stuff like the wiring and plumbing. As Arby says, “The last 10% of the car takes 90% of the time”. They’ve just finished plumbing up the fuel system, they’ve installed the remote transmission cooler and they’ll be doing the wiring shortly.

Valiant Hardtop Turbo LS 1In this video Arby shows us the stock 5.3-litre LS engine and the fuel system plumbing before taking us down under the rear end to look at the trans cooler and rear suspension – including that trick look Gazzard Bros rear suspension system. Of course there’s plenty left to do before Drag Challenge in late-October, such as the roll cage and all other bits needed in a nine-second ride so stay tuned for more updates on POR440.
