FOR the past six months we’ve been following along with the epic Sidchrome Kombi build, as the good people from the Chisholm Institute team up with the Australian VW Performance Centre to create a one-of-a-kind Kombi.

As with any build, laying the paint down is the real turning point – you’re on the downhill slope from there – and in this video we get to see the kids of Chisholm Institute splash some colour on this cool ride. Since then the Kombi has gone to the Australian VW Performance Centre for final assembly before it’s ready to hit the streets.

With 140hp at the treads, this high-performance bread bus has over three times the power it had when it originally left the factory, so it’s going to be a spirited machine. Throw in a slide-back sunroof, a classic re-trim and a bunch of Sidchrome tools, and this is one sweet van that anyone would be proud to own.
