Brodie wanted to build the world's wildest Nissan 300ZX, and we reckon he'd be bloody close to taking that cake

23-year-old Brodie Glendinning immediately grabbed our interest with his entry in our 2023 Milwaukee Young Street Machine of the Year with his wild Nissan 300ZX.

Unsurprisingly it made it through to the top 16 finalists, which you can now vote on for a shot at winning $2500 cash! Read on for more info on Brodie’s mad Nissan:

“When I was 13 years old, my parents bought me a project 300ZX that needed a lot of love. I spent three years working on the car with my father, working towards the day I got my Learners permit. Once that day came, I drove the car everywhere with my dad until I got my Ps.

Once I got out in the world with the car, I started modifying it with what little money that I had, working as a 17 year old at a SuperCheap Auto store (which I now manage). Eventually my father got in my ear, so we decided to pull the 300ZX off the road to build one of the wildest ones on the planet.

The first step was stripping the car down to its shell and adapting the chassis to suit a Ford nine-inch diff, and we also fitted a roll cage and a set of wheel tubs.

For power, we went with a 350 Chev and turbo 350 trans; mainly because they were junkyard parts that I could afford. Unfortunately they didn’t last long.

The car has seen a few different combos over the years, from a tunnel-rammed, nitrous 350 Chev to a 6/71-supercharged 350 Chev. it’s now been stroked to a 383 converted to methanol, and this time I decided to jump ship and play with turbos!

It also has a 4500 Holley Sniper, MSD ignition, MSD two-step and timing retard, fully manualised Turbo 350 with a 4200rpm converter running to a full-spool, 31-spline, 4.56 nine-inch rear end, located by a four-link, adjustable coilovers and wishbone set-up.

With all that being said, the car is an absolute thrill! We attend multiple Queensland Raceway events such as Powercruise and Frydays, show-and-shine displays and charity events.

We as a family are super-proud of the fact that all bodywork, paint, mechanical, fabrication, electrical, tuning and design have been done in our shed by myself and my father. For the last five years, every cent I have earned and every minute of my spare time has been spent with this car, turning it into what it is today. I’m sure this will continue into the future with my 300ZX.”
