Nissan Patrol GQ in Milwaukee Young SMOTY

Reckon this is just another asthmatic GQ Patrol? A quick poke under the bonnet shows Nathan Clark's big GQ is anything but

It’s not often you’ll see a 4×4 being covered by us here at Street Machine, but we just had to include 22-year-old Nathan Clark’s GQ Patrol in this year’s Milwaukee Young Street Machine of the Year finalists, and a quick poke at the engine bay should explain why!

You can vote for Nathan’s GQ using this link here, and by doing so go in the running to score yourself $2500 cash!

“This is my 1997 Nissan GQ Patrol, a car that started life as a six cylinder TB42 EFI petrol engine, which as you can imagine seriously lacked power. I decided to build a forged LS for it with a nice little power adder. The engine is a 5.7-litre LS1, with forged rods and pistons, Kelford camshaft, head studs and Higgins CNC Heads with Cometic head gaskets. The power adder is a GTX45 80mm turbo, with a Turbosmart 60mm wastegate, Turbosmart boost controller and 3.5-inch turbo-back exhaust.

The goal is to have it all engineered, as it’ll see plenty of miles on the street to get it to my happy place in the bush. It’s still a manual, with an Xtreme twin-plate clutch. I loved taking it on off road trips to the Victorian High Country with the old TB, so it should be even more fun with a few more cylinders!”
