AUSSIE rock and roll legends Airbourne were the headline act at this year’s Street Machine Summernats 30. The band was formed by Warnambool brothers Joel and Ryan O’Keeffe, Joel on lead vocals and lead guitar and Ryan on lead drums and percussion. They’re joined by David roads on rhythm guitar and Justin Street on bass guitar in what is a full on old-school brain-melting hard rock band. They’ve toured right around Australia, Europe and America and been in their albums have been in the top 30 ARIA album charts and the U.S Billboards 200 chart.
None of the boys had ever been to Street Machine Summernats before but reckoned they had to come back. Lead vocalist Joel described it as ‘the most Australian get together in the universe’ and couldn’t believe the burnouts – he was especially impressed by the way Lynchy chopped up the pad.
We caught up Joel and Ryan before they hit the big stage at Summernats on Saturday night to see how they were enjoying the event.
