It’s the best day of the freakin’ month, because today is new mag day! The latest is our September issue, and it’s a bloody cracker.

Cubes are king according to Simon Pickrell, whose 544ci Kaase-headed XW Fairmont, SLYXW, graces the cover this month. It’s built to handle, stop and go, and look good doing it!

Kevin Baird’s FX Holden looks like a lightly modded stocker, such is the mastery of the team at Deluxe Rod Shop. It’s actually a comprehensively refined and re-engineered pro tourer, built in a way that is spectacularly sensitive to the original car.

Paul Thomas’s ’67 Muzzy grabbed our attention in the Street Machine Summernats Elite Hall earlier this year. Big Center Line rear hoops and a 403ci Dart mill are noteworthy features, but it’s the attention to detail under the skin that really sets this build apart.

We also head to the Castlemaine Rod Shop to watch and learn as the team build a bolt-in nine-inch rear end for Broads’s Torana. It’s awesome to see kick-arse car parts still being hand made to this level in 2022, and these boys make it look easy.
