The Fords of Shannons’ 2023 Winter Online Auction

It’s time we take a look at some of the best Fords hitting the block at the Shannons 2023 Winter Online Auction, which ends tonight.

We’ve previewed some of the best Holdens up for grabs in the same auction, which you can read about right here.

Our first pick is this genuine 1969 XW Falcon GT, with 95,000 miles, Cleveland 351 power and under-dash air con!

It wears a rare custom-order Brambles Red colour, and presents as a tidy rig inside and out, sitting neatly on a period-correct set of 12-slotters. Current bid is $145K.

The GT goodness doesn’t stop there, with a genuine (although rebodied) 1972 XA GT also on the block for lovers of later-bodied chrome-bumper Falcons.

This one comes from a deceased estate, and behind the 351 mill is a sequentially shifted four-speed. We also spot some upgragded brakes behind the 12-slotters.

Another GT (yep, plenty to choose from at this auction!) is this 1974 XB hardtop, but unlike the other two, it’s not a full minter.

It’s sold as suited for restoration, with some rust bubbling up and Shannons saying it’ll require a mechanical overhaul. You could either go the full resto route, or give it a mechanical once-over and Roadkill what’s probably one of the few complete, unrestored XB GTs still out there. Current bid is $70K.

Switching gears from the chrome-bumpered machines finds us fondly gazing on this 2010 FPV FG F6 310 sedan.

The 310 denotes the 310kW that F6s rocked from factory, but we all know these Barras can handle a whole lot more than that. This example, build number #004, presents as standard inside and out, rocking the ZF auto ’box, painted in Viper Purple and showing just under 100,000km. It’s also being offered with no reserve, with a current bid of $27,5000.

It’s not often we see standard 70s Capris on the market these days, especially the duck’s-guts V6 GT variant.

This one is a pearler, with just 38,000 miles and finished in a sweet coat of Jewel Green. The period Hotwire mags set it off nicely, and it’d make for a perfect weekend cruiser. The current bid is $42K.

Reckon this is an XL ute? Wrong! She’s actually a 1960 Ford Ranchero, the left-hook cousin from the land of the free.

Differences between the Australian and US versions go a lot further than just the steering. The keen-eyed will spot that the Ranchero’s cabin and doors are significantly longer than its Australian counterparts. It’s also up with no reserve and has a current top bid $13K.
