This fresh episode of Carnage sees us back once again at Heathcote Park Raceway, this time hunting for a nine-second pass in our freshly upgraded ‘Trolvo’ Volvo 240.

Regular viewers will have seen that in the last episode, Scotty put the finishing touches on the 1JZ-swapped Swedish brick to get it ready for its new mission, including some new wheels and bonnet latches from VPW Australia.

The day started off super-strong, with the Trolvo smashing its previous 10.45-second PB with a 10.16@135mph on the very first pass.

Following that was another 10.1, before Scotty came out after the sun had fallen and stunned even himself, with the Volvo rocketing to 9.89@136mph!

Then Brenden ‘Bubba’ Medlyn, who was on hand in the pits on the day, decided he wanted a crack in the Volvo, so we strapped him in. On his first ever drive of the car, he managed a 9.93@136mph, proving the Trolvo’s newfound nine-second credentials.

With two nines in the bag, the boys naturally wanted more, but after a few more runs it was becoming evident that the Trolvo may have passed its peak. Both the mph and ET got progressively worse with each run, and the poor stock-bottom-end 1JZ was filling the catch can a bit too easily.

Even though the Volvo may be a little hurt, it’d finally done what we’d always wanted and run a nine-second pass. We’re not quite sure where to go with the car from here, but needless to say, anything we end up doing with it will be coming up for you in future episodes of Carnage.
