In part five of Kids Build a Kombi, the van is ready to roll under its own steam

LAST time we checked in with the Sidchrome Kombi van project, the Chisholm TAFE kids had finished repairing the body and prepared it for paint. Now in this latest instalment, we’re back at the Australian VW Performance Centre, where the guys are getting the Kombi ready to roll under its own steam.

In episode five, the engine gets jammed into the car and the brakes and wheels are fitted. But the boys have also hit another roadblock, this time with the glass roof that was originally planned for the car. Due to engineering issues, it’s being ditched for a more conventional sliding sunroof set-up.

Tune in next time when the Sidchrome Kombi returns to Chisholm TAFE in Dandenong, Victoria where it’ll be painted and the interior kitted out. To find out how you can WIN this awesome Kombi, click here
