Australia’s second-oldest Holden dealership is off-loading its collection, with several iconic cars hitting the auction block via Grays.

Sexton and Green opened its doors in Tenterfield in 1919, selling Holdens for over 70 years before the brand roared its last in 2020.

Fifteen vehicles have now been listed for auction, alongside high-end workshop equipment and classic Holden memorabilia.

Perhaps most desirable in today’s market is a VFII Commodore Motorsport Edition which comes in as-new condition, with just six kilometres on the clock.

Based on the SS-V Redline, these limited editions received HSV-spec magnetic ride control, staggered 20-inch wheels and cross-drilled Brembo brakes, among other upgrades inside and out. There were 1200 built in total.

This white-finished example is one of 592 autos made, and has sat on the dealership floor since being delivered. With a current bid of $65,200 – well below reserve – it has already surpassed its 2017 price tag of $62,990.

The oldest car on the list is a 1953-built FX Holden, showing just 14,172 miles (22,808km).

The sedan was apparently last serviced at Sexton and Green in 1972, and garaged ever since. It appears to wear the original Cavalier Grey paintwork and upholstery, making for a very original car.

While the grey motor looks intact, it’s said to need a new set of Welsh plugs.

At time of writing, the car has not hit reserve with a top bid of $18,800.

There’s also a fully-restored 1953 FX, which formerly held pride of place in the Sexton and Green showroom. Though it’s being sold unregistered, it looks ready to hit the road, with just a few minor exterior blemishes typical of older restorations.

Bids have so far surpassed $20,000, with five days remaining. Considering the FX’s excellent condition, it seems likely to at least double in price by Wednesday.

This column-shift manual EH Special is another ex-showroom display vehicle, and is described as original aside from a replacement front bench seat. It has travelled 97,517 miles (156,938km) on the red motor, and looks ready for plenty more.

Next on the list is a tidy HR ute, packing a 186 three-on-the-tree ‘box. The brightwork is described as excellent, with more-than-serviceable paint and interior trim. It’s pictured with two Pioneer speakers behind the seats, but those look easily removable.

Returning to the Commodore era, there’s a presentable VX SS on offer.

With an LS1 rated to 225kW and backed by the less-optioned T56 manual transmission, it’s a desirable combo. Today’s market has seen cars in this condition sell for $15,000, so we wouldn’t be surprised if this draws similar money – especially with black duco and matching leather.

Other vehicles include a well-sorted VT S-Pack, and a singular Falcon in the form of a BA RTV ute. While not exactly SM fare, these oddities pack a factory diff locker and could be optioned with V8 power.

Workshop hardware ranges from welders and ECU testing gear, to hoists and drill presses. There’s even an entire office building – perfect for management duties. Right now it has fetched a bid of just $9, though the buyer will need to cut gyprock and disassemble it on their own.

There’s wheels, batteries and consumables galore, plus some hard-to-get memorabilia such as dealership signs dating right back to the 1940s. V8 Supercar iconography appears too, including some signed by racing great Larry Perkins.
