Australia has become the first market outside Japan to receive a dedicated NISMO Performance Centre, with the new facility officially opening at Ferntree Gully Nissan in Victoria.
The Melbourne centre is the first stage of a broader Australian expansion announced by Nissan Motorsports & Customizing (NMC) and Nissan Oceania in May.
Designed primarily to support owners and enthusiasts of Nissan performance cars, it will provide access to genuine NISMO performance and heritage components, specialist technical expertise and vehicle restoration programs.

The facility also establishes a link with NISMO’s Omori Factory in Japan and will employ factory-certified NISMO Meisters trained to work on the company’s performance and heritage models.
Australia was selected as an early market for NISMO’s international expansion due in part to the country’s established performance-car culture and significant community of Nissan GT-R owners.
Global NISMO boss Yutaka Sanada described Australia as a “natural priority”, citing demand for heritage parts, technical support and motorsport-related experiences.
Restoration is expected to become an increasingly important part of NISMO’s activities in Australia.
In December 2025, NISMO announced plans to expand its restoration, restomod and heritage parts operations, initially concentrating on the R32, R33 and R34 generations of the Nissan Skyline GT-R.
Additional vehicles are expected to be incorporated into the global program over time, potentially providing Australian owners of ageing Nissan performance cars with greater factory-backed support.
The Melbourne operation also provides a local outlet for NISMO performance parts and accessories, alongside technical services derived from the brand’s motorsport programs.

NMC was formed in 2022 by combining Nissan’s motorsport and customisation businesses, bringing NISMO together with AUTECH under a single organisation.
Ferntree Gully Nissan previously sold the GT-R, with dealer principal Michael Banjanin saying the dealership had already developed a strong connection with owners and enthusiasts of Nissan performance models.
The Melbourne centre will not remain Australia’s only NISMO facility. Nissan says additional NISMO Performance Centres are planned, with locations and further details of the Australian program to be announced later.
