• The A7's styling is divisive, but we think it looks stunning and arguably more expensive than its $115,400 price tag - perhaps that's because the range stretches all the way to the $241,610 RS7.
  • Likewise, the interior is beautifully put together, though our particular test car had a few quirks (see Minus).
  • Those with a phobia of fuel stations will love the 'base' A7 turbo-diesel. Audi claims just 5.2L/100km on the combined cycle, which means fill-ups will be few and far between.
  • Practicality. The A7 is essentially a very large hatchback and the boot is very accommodating, while there is also plenty of space for rear passengers.


  • Style comes at a cost - the Audi A7 3.0 TDI quattro is a hefty $15,500 more than the mechanically identical A6.
  • While the interior feels high quality, the 3.0 TDI lacks some of the premium touches of more expensive variants and the wood trim of our test car felt out of place amongst the dark leather and aluminium highlights.
  • While it costs a considerable $29,500 extra, we'd be sorely tempted to choose the bi-turbo 3.0 TDI, which lifts outputs from 160kW/500Nm to 235kW/650Nm and endows the A7 with the speed (0-100km/h in 5.2sec) to match its looks and positioning.
