THE Jaguar F-Type Project 7 will rocket to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than the current top-spec F-type V8 S, and will carry on to an electronically limited top speed of 300km/h, making it Jaguar’s fastest ever production car.

Set to make its official debut at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, it has performance upgrades courtesy of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, which has wrung an extra 59kW and 55Nm from the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 (to 423kW and 680Nm).

At the same time, 80kg has been shed from the car, resulting in a kerb weight of just 1585kg.

The Project 7 gains all the optional goodies of the V8 S, including carbon-ceramic brakes, torque vectoring and an electronically controlled differential, as well as receiving a specially tuned suspension set-up to work in tandem with a new front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser and adjustable rear wing – all in carbonfibre, of course – to ensure it stays planted.

Although limited to a run of only 250 units, Jaguar has made sure the Project 7 will stand out from the crowd.

Paying homage to the iconic three-time Le Mans-winning D-type, the Project 7 sports an unmistakable fairing behind the driver’s seat, along with a shorter windshield and revised front bumper.
