EV owners in NSW have been reminded that a deal that saved them money on overnight home charging is coming to an end and they should look for new options to get a discount on replenishing their batteries.
Under the EV Night Boost plan from Energy Australia, owners paid just seven cents per kilowatt hour for power from midnight to 6am, and it applied to customers with an EV registered to the same home address as their account.

Customers who don’t act to source a new plan will revert to the more expensive standard offer from Energy Australia, which has advised them of their new plan and when it comes into effect. It’s far from the only plan that’s being cut, too. It’s likely that many of those caught up in the change will be moved to the Standing Offer Home plan.
“During October 2026, we made the difficult decision to close Battery Ease, Battery Ease (Energy Masters), Community Battery Ease, EV Night Boost, Solar Ease Solar Home Bundle and Solar Plus Plans,” Energy Australia said in an announcement on its website, which you can read here.
Affected owners should check their charging schedule, which can be done via the Energy Australia app, to ensure that the times they replenish their batteries match the cheapest periods available now that the offer is being closed.
It’s also worth looking into making up for any lost savings by taking advantage of the federal government’s Solar Sharer offer, which started on July 1 this year. Under that deal, power retailers are forced to give customers the option of at least one plan that includes three free hours of electricity per day, capped at 24kWh.
However, unlike the Energy Australia offer, it requires charging during the middle of the day, when Australia’s solar power surplus takes effect. Modelling by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis found that households with one EV can save up to $800 a year, rising to $1900 a year for homes with two EVs.
