Honda is preparing to launch a new SUV, with some suggesting the model will wear a ZR-V badge for the first time.

Buried in a video promoting the launch of the all-new Civic and City, teaser images of the new Honda SUV were accompanied with the text ‘Prepare this car for GIIAS 2021’ – the 2021 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show being held on the outskirts of Jakarta later this month.

While Honda first trademarked the ZR-V name in 1999, it’s understood to have renewed the filing in early 2020.

A number of media outlets have reported a new small SUV from Honda is set to be introduced to fight popular models from the likes of Mazda and Hyundai, possibly based on the Honda City small car sold in overseas markets.

One of the teaser images show the mysterious SUV wearing an ‘RS’ badge, suggesting the model will be offered with a sporty variant within the line-up.

Despite the ZR-V name being trademarked in Australia, it’s not yet known whether the model will be offered here, with indications pointing to the vehicle’s release in markets such as Indonesia and India.
