Jaecoo has confirmed pricing and specifications for the new J5 Hybrid, with the electrified small SUV set to arrive in Australian showrooms this August from $34,990 drive-away.
The hybrid expands the J5 line-up, joining the existing petrol and battery-electric variants, and will be offered in a single, high-specification Summit grade.
Power comes from a series-parallel hybrid system that combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 105kW and 215Nm with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor developing 150kW and 310Nm. Combined system outputs are rated at 165kW and 295Nm.

Drive is sent to the front wheels through a dedicated hybrid transmission, with Jaecoo claiming combined fuel consumption of 5.6L/100km and CO₂ emissions of 126g/km.
Externally, the J5 Hybrid closely mirrors its petrol sibling, with the main visual difference being a set of unique 18-inch Aero alloy wheels.
Standard equipment includes LED daytime running lights, a fixed panoramic glass roof, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch central infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
The SUV also features wireless phone charging, voice control, ambient cabin lighting, acoustic front-door glass, a powered tailgate, heated and ventilated front seats and a 360-degree surround-view camera.
Jaecoo says the synthetic leather upholstery uses a silicone-based material designed to be more resistant to wear and easier to clean than conventional trim, while also offering antibacterial properties.

Safety equipment includes seven airbags and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems, including autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control and emergency lane keeping assistance.
The J5 Hybrid will be covered by Jaecoo Australia’s eight-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, alongside an eight-year, unlimited-kilometre battery warranty. Buyers will also receive eight years of capped-price servicing and up to eight years of roadside assistance.
The addition of the hybrid model gives Jaecoo a three-pronged powertrain offering in the J5 range, allowing buyers to choose between petrol, hybrid and fully electric versions of the compact SUV.
