The LDV T60 dual-cab 4×4 ute has received one of its biggest updates yet, gaining a gruntier diesel engine, redesigned front end and modernised interior for the 2027 model year. Due in Australian showrooms in October, the updated T60 adopts the 2.5-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine already used by its larger Terron 9 sibling, producing 163kW of power and 520Nm of torque.

Those outputs make the updated T60 one of the most powerful four-cylinder diesel utes in its class and represent a reasonable increase over the outgoing T60’s 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel, which makes 160kW and 500Nm. In another plus, the new engine’s higher numbers are also produced over a wider band.

It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and selectable four-wheel drive with 2H, 4H and 4L modes. Braked towing capacity remains at 3500kg, while payload is rated at 1040kg for the entry-level Pro and 980kg for the Luxe.

Changes aren’t restricted to what’s under the bonnet, with the exterior also getting a big design upgrade. The MY27 T60 receives completely new bodywork ahead of the windscreen, bringing its appearance closer to the larger Terron 9 with new, squarer headlights, a big LDV badge and a new grille.

The cabin features a redesigned dashboard that sports a larger 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a new 8.0-inch digital driver’s display. LDV has also moved the gear selector from the steering column to the centre console, while the indicator stalk has moved to the right-hand side of the steering column in an unusual move for a current model.

The T60 range has also been simplified from three variants to two. The Pro is priced from $37,990 driveaway for ABN holders and standard equipment includes LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel with paddle shifters, cloth upholstery, spray-in tub liner, damped tailgate, reversing camera and rear parking sensors. Fuel consumption is listed at 8.0L/100km.

The higher-spec Luxe costs $42,990 driveaway for ABN holders and adds larger 18-inch alloys, synthetic leather upholstery, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, auto-folding mirrors, a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, sports bar and a tow bar kit. The Luxe also swaps the Pro’s leaf-spring rear suspension for a multi-link arrangement and gains a wider track, along with front and rear differential locks. Its fuel consumption is 8.2L/100km.

Safety equipment across the range includes autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance with lane departure warning, driver fatigue monitoring, tyre pressure monitoring and six airbags.

According to LDV, more than 46,000 units of the current-generation T60 have been sold in Australia since its 2017 launch, and the existing rear tub has been retained for MY27, meaning accessories designed for the outgoing model will continue to fit.

The updated LDV T60 will land in local LDV showrooms in early October.
