MINI Australia has revealed a limited-edition John Cooper Works hatchback commemorating one of the most remarkable results in Bathurst history, 60 years after the marque famously dominated the 1966 Gallaher 500.
The MINI Lucky 13 Edition pays tribute to Australian racer Bob Holden and Finnish driver Rauno Aaltonen, who steered a Morris Mini Cooper S to outright victory at Mount Panorama, leading an extraordinary sweep of the first nine finishing positions by Mini.
Only 26 examples will be produced, with pricing set at $71,990 before on-road and delivery costs. Production begins in October, with Australian deliveries scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

The name references Holden’s association with racing number 13, which he adopted after drawing it from a hat, having previously competed in a car carrying the supposedly unlucky number.
Based on the current petrol-powered MINI John Cooper Works three-door hatchback, the special edition retains its turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, complete with steering-wheel shift paddles.
Its appearance draws heavily on the 1966 winner, with British Racing Green IV paint, a contrasting Glazed White roof and mirror caps, white bonnet stripes and prominent circular number 13 decals.
Additional exterior equipment includes 18-inch JCW Rallye Spoke alloy wheels finished in Frozen Midnight Grey, gloss-black aerodynamic trim, a carbon-fibre exhaust finisher and red motorsport-style tow strap.
Inside, the Lucky 13 features JCW sports seats and steering wheel, an Anthracite headliner and recycled polyester dashboard and door trims.
Standard equipment includes MINI’s 240mm circular OLED touchscreen, head-up display, configurable ambient lighting, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, driver-seat massage and memory functions, and a 12-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system.

The original 1966 Bathurst victory was particularly significant because the lightweight Mini Cooper S defeated considerably larger and more powerful machinery, with Holden and Aaltonen finishing a lap ahead of their nearest rivals.
Holden subsequently enjoyed a motorsport career spanning more than six decades, including numerous touring-car class victories and involvement in more than 50 Bathurst endurance races.
The Lucky 13 Edition joins MINI’s growing catalogue of heritage-inspired models, although its limited production run makes it an unusually exclusive Australian-market offering.
