Mini Australia will import more bodystyle variants of its Paul Smith Edition models locally after hailing the “strong customer demand” for the three-door hatch since it went on sale in May. The brand says 161 Paul Smith Editions have been sold locally, all based on the electric Cooper SE, which has prompted the expansion of the line-up to petrol three-, five-door and convertible versions.

Continuing a partnership that stretches back to the original Mini Paul Smith Edition launched in the UK in 1998, each modern-day version features a number of Paul Smith enhancements, including signature ‘Nottingham Green’ exterior accenting, bespoke badging, unique interior detailing and “premium sustainable” materials throughout the cabin.

The Paul Smith Edition is available in either ‘Inspired White’, ‘Statement Grey’ and ‘Midnight Black II’ exterior colouring, and on the inside, ‘Nightshade Blue’ vegan leather and knitted cloth seats, recycled polyester dashboard and door card materials feature.

Inside you’ll find a sports steering wheel with blue contrast stitching and a Paul Smith strap design, as well as a dark steel inlay, Paul Smith door sill inlays and a floormat rivet with the Paul Smith rabbit and blue-accented stitching.

Mini says that the Paul Smith Edition combines its “unmistakable character with Paul Smith’s celebrated approach to colour, creativity and individuality. The expanded range gives even more Australian customers the opportunity to own a uniquely expressive interpretation of the iconic British marque.”

The Cooper S three-door is going for $55,490 plus on-road costs, which is $5500 less than the electric Cooper SE three-door already on sale, and a premium of $2000 compared to regular Mini variants.
