The best Wheels covers from history

With a new era of design coming to Wheels’ pages, we tasked our Art Director with choosing his favourite covers from the archive

WHEELS is entering a new era, having undergone its first redesign in 13 years.

While we like to think the outgoing design held up pretty well (it is older than the Holden VE Commodore after all), it was time to give Wheels a bit of overdue t.l.c. for the modern era.

To celebrate the change, we’ve charged our hardworking Art Director, Felipe Ubilla, with choosing his five favourite Wheels covers from the entire back catalogue.

While we expected the crayon-wielder to pick exclusively his own work, which has won multiple awards, he dived headlong into the archives to highlight some ripper design work from yesteryear.

Click through the gallery above to enjoy his top five, and head to our Instagram (@wheelsaustralia) to see a few wildcards that missed the cut.
