Ford Focus

Once one of Australia’s favourite small hatches, the modern Ford Focus has a refined line-up that focuses on performance and practicality with several funky variants.

The first Ford Focus was sold in Australia in the late-‘90s, and the hatchback has been a mainstay of the new-car market locally ever since.

Sitting at the top of the Ford Focus line-up is the hot hatch ST, which will cost you around $45,000, while more affordable and less powerful models are less than $30,000.

There are no diesel engines for the Focus, with a range of three- and four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines on offer.

Competing against the Ford Focus is the Hyundai i30, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Golf, Mazda3, and Honda Civic.

How to open Ford Focus bonnet?

There is a level on the left-hand side of the front passenger footwell of the Ford Focus that can be used to open the bonnet. Pull the lever twice in succession, and you should be able to simply lift the bonnet. If that doesn’t work, you may need to flick the latch which is located between the bonnet and front grille.

How much is a 2020 Ford Focus?

The cheapest Ford Focus in Australia is the Trend, which costs $26,490 before on-roads. The most expensive Ford Focus is the performance-focused ST hot hatch, which is priced at $44,690 before on-road costs.

How much is a turbo for a Ford Focus?

If you have suffered a turbocharger failure, then fitting a replacement is not cheap and can cost more than $1000. Hopefully, the vehicle is still under warranty. If not, it may be possible (and cheaper) to refurbish the turbo instead of buying a new one outright.

How much oil does a 2008 Ford Focus take?

A 2008 Ford Focus has capacity for 4.3-litres of oil. It is recommended to use SAE 5W-20 motor oil. While the Ford factory uses a synthetic motor oil blend, this is not mandatory to use.
