A wall-mounted charger for Mini's electric vehicles has been recalled in Australia, due to the unit not meeting local standards.

Thirty of the Mini HV Wallbox Gen II (with charging socket) units have been placed under recall by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, all of which were sold between 2020 and 2021.

Affected chargers have the part number 61 90 2 472 423 printed on the side label and must be replaced by BMW as they don't meet certification and labelling requirements which must be used in Australia.

Those who have the charger in question are encouraged to contact BMW Australia to arrange a replacement unit, with the manufacturer offering to organise a licensed electrician to uninstall the old charger and refit the correct one.

BMW Australia can be contacted via phone (133 269) or email (info@bmw.com.au).
