New warpaint for Munich's outrageous concept

BMW will front up to the 2015 Concours d’Elegance on Pebble Beach, California, this month with the newly revealed 3.0 CSL Hommage R Concept.

The car reintroduces the Hommage concept BMW served us earlier this year, however it now wears a new livery that copies the 3.0 Coupe Sports Lightweight racer BMW Motosport entered in to the American IMSA series in 1975.

BMW CSL Hommage RAs part of the transformation it's been redone in white then streaked with iconic red, blue and purple.

It also welcomes a new mesh-style grille, as opposed to the earlier concept’s vertical slats, and its 21-inch wheels are now finished in matt gold.

BMW has also redesigned the interior with a pure driver-centric focus.

Meanwhile the driver’s race suit is said to contain illuminated piping in its sleeves to “show the progress of information”, for things like gearshifts, that will travel from the steering column to the helmet visor.

BMW CSL Hommage RCarbon fibre also helps the Hommage R pay tribute to the original 1975 car's lightweight ethos, as the interior, integrated roll-cage and seats are made from the material.

Up front remains the twin-turbo inline six that’s assisted by an electric unit.

The new Hommage R Concept will be rolled out at the Concours d'Elegance this Sunday.
