BMW announces new head of Mini following board reshuffle

Stefanie Wurst, current project lead for customer, sales and brand within the BMW Group, has been appointed to lead Mini.

In a statement, the automaker confirmed Wurst will become responsible for the marque from February 2022.

The 53-year-old commenced her role in the BMW Group in 2014, starting as head of marketing for BMW Germany.

She was promoted to the managing director of BMW Group Netherlands in 2018, before moving to lead the customer, sales and brand in November 2021.

Wurst will succeed current Mini boss Bernd Koerber, who is set to become head of BMW product management and the connected company.

The news comes as part of a reshuffle of the BMW Group board, as the company prepares to merge its German and European sales regions into one from April 2022.

Bernhard Kuhnt, senior vice president of BMW Germany and previous BMW of North America head, will lead the unified sales and marketing division.

Meanwhile, the current leader of the European market, Jean-Philippe Parain, will take over responsibility for the Asia-Pacific, Eastern European, Middle Eastern and African regions.
