FORMULA ONE GOES GREEN

The high-horsepower world of Formula One has been pushing towards a greener future (and image) recently, but this may be taking things a touch too far.

The high-horsepower world of Formula One has been pushing towards a greener future (and image) recently, but this may be taking things a touch too far.

The Williams F1 team has won a gold award in the great pavilion category at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show, with its full-scale topiary grand prix car and pit crew.

Marking the team’s 35th year in the world’s premier motor racing category, it took Essex-based nursery specialist King & Co three years to cultivate.

Williams provided several car parts as well as a helmet from team driver Bruno Senna to incorporate into ‘The Williams F1 Story’ design.

Since its inception in 1977, Williams has won 16 world titles with drivers including Australia’s most recent champion Alan Jones, Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell, and Nelson Piquet.

The world famous Chelsea show opened overnight and runs until this Saturday the 26th.
