Jaguar Project 7 coming to Australia

But if you haven't already bought one, you're too late

Jaguar Australia has managed to secure a small allocation of the limited-edition Project 7, the first product from its new Special Vehicles Operation (SVO) division.

Just 10 of the 250-unit build run will be making their way down under, priced at $339,610, a hefty $112,640 more than the F-Type Coupe R on which it is based.

Unfortunately for any prospective buyers, the price is now immaterial, as all 10 cars have been spoken for before they've even been built.

Inspired by Jaguar's Le Mans-winning D-Type, and named in honour of the British marque's seven victories at the French classic, Project 7 is comprehensively modified by JLR's new SVO division.

Outputs from the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 increase to 423kW/700Nm and the electronics for the engine and gearbox are recalibrated to be more aggressive.

Carbon ceramic brakes are standard, and the suspension is much stiffer to improve performance on-track. Top speed is electronically limited to 300km/h, but the 0-100km/h time improves to just 3.9sec.

Unfortunately, the strong local demand means there will be no press car, so therefore no local review, however you'll be able to read our verdict from the overseas launch in the next issue of MOTOR, on-sale August 3.
