Talk about loading up on the Aussie market. For the second time in three days, Chery has announced that it’s bringing a new brand down under – and this time it’s the luxury-focused Luxeed badge, which will be positioned above this week’s other newcomer, Exlantix.
The addition brings the number of Chery sub-brands in Australia to nine, following Exlantix, Freelander, iCaur, Jaecoo, Jetour, Lepas, Omoda and of course, Chery itself. Luxeed is the most opulent of the bunch and it’s planning to have two models in our dealerships by the middle of 2027.

News of the latest expansion in Chery’s Aussie range was confirmed at the Luxeed global launch in China on Wednesday. First to make it to local showroom floors will be the Llounge MPV (pictured above), which is known as the Luxeed V9 in the Chinese market.
Pronounced L-lounge, it comes in at 5359mm long, 2009mm wide, with a wheelbase of 3250mm and either 1859mm or 1879mm of height, depending on the specification. Developed in right-hand drive right from the get-go, it comes in six- or seven-seat configurations in China.
In its home market the Llounge features electric sliding doors, triple screens, a ceiling entertainment screen, oxygen generator, refrigerator and dual-independent zero-gravity seats that rotate 180 degrees. Grunt comes from a range-extended powertrain with a 1.5-litre turbo four-cylinder acting solely as a generator for the 53.4kWh battery.

Luxeed is a co-development between Chery and Huawei, which provides the technology platform for several new Chinese brands. But the Huawei tech will be absent from export models, casting doubt over whether the powertrain will be the same in examples that reach Australia. The infotainment and driver assistance systems should definitely be different.
The next Luxeed Aussies will get the chance to sample is the Stormax performance SUV (pictured above), which is known as the RX in China. Former Ferrari designer Werner Gruber is responsible for the styling, which explains the resemblance to the Prancing Horse’s Purosangue.
The Stormax has total outputs of 460kW and 775Nm, dual-motor all-wheel drive and an 800-volt architecture. Luxeed claims it’ll do the 0-100km/h sprint in less than 3.9 seconds, and it also features dual-chamber air suspension.
