This render by Daniele Pelligar, a Sicilian design student, of a Ferrari LMP1 racer has shifted our imaginations into overdrive.
Sadly it’s not real, or even official, but it does offer a tantalising glimpse at what a Ferrari LMP1 car could look like.
Ferrari Chairman, Luca di Montezemolo, recently expressed his displeasure at the current state of Formula 1, citing the recent rule changes has made the sport more dull and less of a spectacle. Ferrari is also struggling to remain in contention of the championship and its top driver, Fernado Alonso, has stated his desire to race in the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race.
Does this mean Ferrari is gearing up to switch racing disciplines? The company isn’t saying, but in the meantime just look at that picture.
Imagine a Ferrari LMP1 rocketing down Mulsanne Straight, sun setting on the horizon, overtaking Toyota then Porsche and finally Audi…
We can only dream.
