A 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale showing just 1330 kilometres on the odometer is set to go to auction in Australia next month, offering collectors the chance to secure one of the marque’s most sought-after modern performance cars.

The Rosso Corsa red coupe, featuring a blue and white NART racing stripe, will be auctioned by Pickles on behalf of Cor Cordis through the PicklesLIVE online platform at 6:00pm AEST on August 24.

The 458 Speciale holds a unique place in Ferrari‘s history as the final high-performance, naturally aspirated, mid-engined V8 model before the Italian manufacturer switched to turbocharged power with the 488 GTB.

Around 60 examples of the 458 Speciale were allocated across Australia and New Zealand when the model was launched, making local examples relatively uncommon.

Power comes from Ferrari’s 4.5-litre naturally aspirated V8, producing 445kW at 9000rpm and 540Nm at 6000rpm. Drive is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with Ferrari claiming a 0-100km/h sprint of just 3.0 seconds.

Compared with the standard 458 Italia, the Speciale features reduced weight, active front and rear aerodynamics and Ferrari’s Side Slip Angle Control system, designed to improve handling performance on road and track.

Pickles Head of Prestige and Dealer Richard Bowen said examples of the 458 Speciale rarely become available through public auction in Australia.

“The 458 Speciale combines an exceptionally focused driving experience with the theatre and responsiveness of Ferrari’s naturally aspirated V8,” Bowen said.

He added that the car’s low mileage, condition and specification were expected to generate strong interest from both Australian and overseas buyers.
